Back in September, I wrote a little Charlie and Adam text exchange for my newsletter. (If you aren’t subscribed yet, you really should be. You’re missing out on a bunch of exclusive extra content!)
Speaking of exclusive content… Keep an eye on this blog tomorrow. Trust me. It’ll be worth it.
Anyway, onto the texts!
🐷🦖🎃
Adam: Why are there twelve rockmelons in my fridge?
Charlie: You know Tim calls them cantaloupes? What a weird word. Rockmelon is so much cooler. More rock. Obviously.
Adam: Don’t avoid the question. Why are they here?
Charlie: Is it impacting your quality of life that much?
Adam: You have your own fridge. I’m just confused about why they aren’t there. And why anyone would need twelve.
Charlie: My pigs like them.
Adam: Your pigs aren’t at my house. Again that begs the question of why they’re in my fridge.
Charlie: You gave me a key.
Adam: I didn’t expect you’d use it for rockmelon storage.
Charlie: You should have. You know to expect the unexpected with me.
Adam: They aren’t for your pigs, are they?
Charlie: Fine. No.
Adam: Then what?
Charlie: I was going to try and make something with them. Wrap them with smoked eggplant like a fancy appetiser. You always cook food for me and I wanted to make something nice for you as a thank you.
Adam: That’s very sweet of you, but did the recipe really call for twelve rockmelons?
Charlie: I bought backups in case I fucked up the first eleven.
Adam: At least you didn’t leave thirty-seven eggplants around my apartment, I guess.
Charlie: You haven’t been to the bedroom yet, have you?
Adam: You left eggplants in my bedroom? Was that meant to be as suggestive as it sounds?
Charlie: Don’t mockmelon me.
Adam: 🍆
Oh, and another little note… Folking Around is set about a year in the future from where we’re currently up to in the Charlie Davies series, meaning that if you want a sneak peek into future Charlie stuff, you should read that book.
One of the reviews on Folking Around mentioned that there should be a Charlie and Adam rom com series. No spoilers, but I’ve been working on something since July 2020 that you should maybe get excited for. 😉
(Maybe it’s coming to this blog tomorrow. Maybe.)
