What Charlie Davies does between books…

The edits on Trouble in Store (Charlie Davies Mystery #13) are DONE!!

Well, the first round, anyway.

Still a lot of work to go (proofreading, boo, and Alexi’s notes, boo-er), but I’m ignoring that for now and basking in the moment. I’ve read through the whole book now and I’m *so* happy with it. I think Charlie fans are going to have a lot of fun with this one… 😁🐷

To celebrate, here’s what Charlie gets up to between books, when she’s not solving mysteries or getting bonked on the head…

After my most recent brush with death (which you’ll read all about in Trouble in Store), I needed some time off. To heal. To unwind. To get over the traumatic knowledge that John has decided to move himself and Brisbane into – nope, I can’t even say it.

Enter: video games.

Namely Wylde Flowers, where you play as a witch who moves to a small town to help her grandma. (Except in the game you help your grandmother run her farm, rather than the things my Granny has been asking for help with lately, which are a lot more murder-y.)

A certain, ahem, friend has been encouraging me get more into games for a while, so I decided to listen. Specifically, I’ve been trying the easy, cosy, relaxing kind.

Topher: Relaxing? Are you kidding me? You’ve been spending twelve hours a day playing and yelled at me when I made you take a pee break.

Charlie: I need to grow soybeans so I can make tofu! I don’t have time to wee!

Adam: I think you should probably make time. We all know how well-hydrated you are.

Charlie: Can’t stop. I’m fermenting grapes to make more wine for Westley so he falls in love with me.

Adam: You have to ply him with alcohol so he falls in love with you?

Topher: Yeah, I don’t know if that’s ethical, Charles.

Charlie: I’m not making him drink them. They’re gifts. Also, shut up and stop interrupting my game play.

Topher: What’s made you so cranky?

Adam: I think I might have made a mistake, introducing you to gaming.

Charlie: Shush, both of you! I think I’ve nearly unlocked the part where you can adopt pet pigs.

Topher: Westley’s going to be so upset when he realises you’re just killing time with him until you can be reunited with your true love: pigs.

Adam: At least he’ll have plenty of wine to drown his sorrows.

Hehe. I hope you enjoyed it!

Now I’m going to go and play Wylde Flowers until my hands hurt from gaming instead of writing like they usually do. 😁

xx
